Acoustic, Electric Guitar & Bass Lessons

Learning music should feel inspiring, rewarding, and enjoyable from the very first lesson. John’s teaching approach focuses on helping students begin making real music immediately while building confidence, creativity, technique, and long-term musical growth in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Lessons are personalized to each student’s goals, experience level, and musical interests. Whether you are picking up an instrument for the first time, returning to guitar after years away, or looking to strengthen your skills, lessons are designed to remain engaging, enjoyable, and motivating while building a strong musical foundation.

John has over four decades of teaching and professional performance experience and studied at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. He has performed throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, and Orange County with musicians from a wide range of musical backgrounds and styles.

A La Jolla native, John remains an active performing musician throughout San Diego, appearing regularly at private events, restaurants, and local venues.

Lesson rates

First 30-minute lesson is free 

Single Lessons

  • 30-Minutes = $85
  • 60-Minutes = $140 

Monthly Membership

  • 30-Minutes Weekly $300 
  • 60-Minutes Weekly $540 

Monthly membership remains at the same regardless of whether there are 4 or 5 weekly lessons in the month. Which can up to as many as 4 free lessons per year.
Monthly tuition is due is due the first of the month.

Scheduling & Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend your scheduled lesson time, please provide at least 24 hours notice by phone, text, or email.

With 24 hours notice:

  • Lessons may be rescheduled online or directly with John
  • Rescheduled lessons must be completed within 30 days of the original lesson date

Lessons cancelled without 24 hours notice, as well as missed lessons without notice, are charged in full.

Consistency and regular practice are the keys to musical progress. These policies help create the best possible learning experience and steady long-term improvement for every student.
